Can you give me a summary of what the Giddy Goanna program is about?

Why does Giddy Goanna need our sponsorship?
Giddy Goanna is a non-profit organisation operating on a very low budget, which aims to achieve self-sustainablity through the sale of very large numbers of low-priced books, so as to be able to continue the program and benefit millions of children and families for decades. We aim to keep the Giddy products as low-priced as possible, so they are accessible to children from all socio-economic back-grounds. Giddy released the first book in 1995 and is now one third of the way towards self-sustainability. However, at this point in time, Giddy Goanna urgently needs sponsorship to continue the program.

How will sponsoring Giddy Goanna benefit us?
• Due to Giddy’s Community Service Announcements on TV networks in Australia, people are very aware that Giddy Goanna is in much need of sponsorship. This will heighten their attention to noticing who stepped forward to sponsor this valuable children’s program.
• Employee pride that their organization is sponsoring a program that is in much need of funds, that will not only benefit millions of children throughout Australia and the world, BUT will also benefit their children and grandchildren.
• Your organisation will receive great recognition in the broader community throughout Australia, as a community minded company that has enabled the health and safety of all children to be improved by sponsoring the Giddy Goanna program.

Who will see our sponsorship of the Giddy Goanna program?
Parents, children, grandparents, teachers, health/safety professionals. Internationally, Giddy Goanna is unique and has received much praise and demand from health / safety / education professionals around the world. We aim to establish Giddy Goanna as an essential element of childhood around the world, benefiting millions of children and families for generations.

* Your sponsorship will be seen on major TV chat-shows, the news on TV networks, hundreds of newspapers and radio station throughout Australia and later throughout the world as Giddy expands.

Australia
Giddy Goanna is already well known throughout Australia, with TV Community Service Announcements playing in all communities. We aim to get Giddy Goanna books into all households in Australia with children under ten years within a few years. At present, over 30,000 books are purchased by Australian families each year, and we plan to increase this to 150,000 books per year.
Giddy’s books are already in over 2000 primary schools in Australia, being used at classrooms and libraries. In the near future, we aim to have Giddy Goanna’s resources used in 95% of primary schools. Such resources will include Giddy books, musical CD’s, blackline masters, video and web-page activities. There has been much demand from teacher for a range of integrated Giddy Goanna resources that can used across their eight curriculum areas. Please refer to Teachers FAQ for more info.

New Zealand
TV Community Service Announcements are scheduled to commence in New Zealand in mid-2003, with more specific promotion to schools and families following.

USA / Canada
There has been much interest from health / safety professionals in USA and Canada. Distribution and promotion strategies will be explored in 2003 and implemented in 2004. Giddy will be presented at several leading conferences in 2004.

UK / Europe
Similar to USA / Canada, strategies will be explored and implemented in 2004 / 2005, with a presentation in Vienna in May 2004. Translations of the books into other languages will be undertaken as required. There has been much praise for the ability of Giddy’s books to be translated into other languages, due to the simplistic, minimalist language use and the high usage of educational illustrations.

Asia, Africa, South America…
Strategies for countries in these continents will be developed in relation to demand received.

As everyone has different needs, we can tailor make a sponsorship package to best suit your organization.

Can you tell us about each of the products that appear in the sponsorship options?

How can we be sure that our funds actually benefit children and is not just used for expensive administration costs?
At Giddy Goanna, we keep administration costs to an amazing minimum. We do not have flash offices or employ heaps of staff. In fact, our office space is donated and we work mainly with volunteer staff and only employ two part-time staff, who only get paid when it can be afforded. There are times when our staff have not been paid for 18 months. Our priority is ensuring high quality resources and programs are produced and delivered for children.
